Multiliteracies in Practice: Participation in a multilingual digital storytelling community
The Critical Connections project took a view of literacy that recognised the significance of multilingualism and digital communication in its many forms. It enabled young people to create and share bilingual digital stories in a range of genres.
In the second phase of the project, researchers at Goldsmiths are collaborating with mainstream and complementary schools in the UK and overseas. This conference will examine work in progress and consider what it means in the context of approaches to language teaching (foreign and community languages, English as an Additional Language, English mother tongue) as well as to broader literacy and citizenship development. The research team will launch their new book, Multilingual Digital Storytelling: Engaging creatively and critically with literacy (Routledge).
Attendance is free, but places are limited so early registration is advised.
Venue: Goldsmiths, University of London, the Top Floor, Education Building, New Cross, London, SE14 6NW
